A small, sturdy horse breed popular with young riders.
Ponies are small horses belonging to the Equidae family, known for their sturdy build and gentle temperament. They are often found on farms, in riding schools, and in various rural areas across the UK. Ponies primarily graze on grasses, hay, and grains, making them well-suited to pasture life. While ponies are domesticated and not considered endangered, their wild relatives face varying degrees of conservation challenges. An interesting fact about ponies is that they have a unique ability to thrive in harsh environments, such as the rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands. UK families can enjoy seeing these charming animals at various zoos and wildlife parks, where they often participate in educational programmes and interactive experiences.
