Goats are domesticated members of the Bovidae family, well-known for their curious and playful nature. Originally from mountainous regions in Asia and Europe, they are now found on farms and homesteads around the world. Goats are herbivores, primarily feeding on grass, leaves, and shrubs, which makes them excellent at clearing land. While they are not considered endangered, their wild relatives face various threats, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts for biodiversity. An interesting fact about goats is that they have a remarkable sense of balance and can climb steep and rocky terrains with ease. Families in the UK can enjoy seeing goats up close at many zoos and wildlife parks, where they often have interactive exhibits and opportunities to feed and pet these charming animals.
