Gelada is among the animals visitors can meet at UK wildlife attractions.
The gelada is a unique primate found exclusively in the highlands of Ethiopia. Known for their distinctive manes and expressive faces, these fascinating animals live in large social groups called herds. Geladas primarily feed on grasses, using their strong teeth to chew tough vegetation that other animals might avoid. While their conservation status has not been formally evaluated, habitat loss and climate change pose potential threats to their populations. An interesting fact about geladas is that they are the only primates that primarily graze on grass, much like cows do. UK families can observe these remarkable creatures at various zoos and wildlife parks, providing a wonderful opportunity to learn about their social behaviors and natural habitat.
